The processes associated with order management and fulfillment of ETO projects. This includes project order creation, project scheduling, order picking, packing and shipping and invoicing.
Deliver-To-Engineering-Order is the configuration of the Deliver process that facilitates the ETO Supply Chain Strategy. This typically means that orders are approached and executed as a project.
Use Cases
- Special projects, developed to a single customer specification
- Specialty products, low volume, high margin
- Specialized transportation
- Specialized services
Deliver-Engineer-To-Order processes are generally the most resource intensive version of the Deliver processes and is therefore not a good fit for low margin products.
Notes
Deliver-To-Order and Deliver-To-Engineering-Order can both be applied to configurable products. Deliver-To-Order is generally a better fit for products where the configuration can be menu-driven. Menu-driven implies that configuration of the product can be performed using a rules-engine.
