A term describing a structured list of all the materials or parts and quantities needed to produce a particular finished product, assembly, subassembly, or manufactured part. These materials may be purchased or internally produced.

Different BOMs may be maintained and applied by different functions:

  • Planning BOM or P-BOM
  • Manufacturing BOM or M-BOM
  • Engineering BOM or E-BOM

Alternative names for Bill of Materials include: Recipe.
