Electronic customs manifest in the EDI ANSI X12 format. The manifest contains data on cargo arriving in or departing on oceangoing vessels, railroad trains, or other types of conveyances. A Carrier may use the EDI 309 Customs Manifest to provide terminal operators, port authorities, or service centers with manifest data on cargo arriving at their facilities.

Use Cases

• Shipper sends EDI 300 Reservation/Booking Request (Ocean) to Freight Forwarder or Carrier
• Freight Forwarder or Carrier responds with EDI 301 Booking Confirmation (Ocean)
• Shipper sends EDI 303 Booking Cancellation (Ocean) if applicable
• Shipper sends EDI 304 Shipping Instructions (Ocean) to Carrier
• Freight Forwarder or Carrier submits EDI 309 Customs Manifest to customs
• Freight Forwarder or Carrier provides multiple EDI 315 Status Details (Ocean) updates to Shipper or Consignee
• Freight Forwarder or Carrier submits EDI 312 Arrival Notice (Ocean) to Shipper or Consignee
• Freight Forwarder or Carrier submits EDI 310 Freight Receipt and Invoice (Ocean) to Shipper
