Define Supply Chain Network

The activities associated with gathering and documenting the current state flow of materials and high-level process capabilities - the 'supply chain network'. This typically includes suppliers, customers, factories, warehouses, distribution centers and other entities involved in the planning, sourcing, making, delivery and return of products. For each entity or node list the process capabilities and optionally identify the Customer Order Decoupling Point for each supply chain.

Example tools to document the network include:

Users have also reported using Value Stream Maps for this purpose. The key information needed at this point is the flow of materials to understand the scope of the network.
