The activities associated with the receiving and responding to customer inquiries. This includes responding to inquiries on product configuration, availability, lead times, transportation costs and optionally temporary reserving resources.
Inquiries within the Supply Chain domain differ from inquiries in the Sales & Support domain. A Sales & Support inquiry is an inquiry to establish a relationship between the Buying and Selling parties. This relationship is in many industries established by means of a contract. Process Inquiry generally occurs after such relationship is established. Activities –such as quotations to non-customers– are typically not included in this process.
