The activities associated with identifying, evaluating and selecting practices that are considered strategic supply chain capabilities for a given supply chain.

Strategic capabilities are generally high level practices that will improve the overall performance of the supply chain. E.g. For a market where customers want choice in the configuration of a product the strategy may be to offer Configure-to-Order (MTO) capabilities. Feedback from Align Network processes may include alternatives if a strategic capability can be achieved using more appropriate practices.
