The activities associated with the handling and movement of product (materials, semi-finished product, goods, merchandize) to a storage location. This includes determining the optimal storage location, assigning equipment and operators, physical movement of product and recording the associated inventory transactions.
Some use cases require the unloading process to put the product away immediately. For example: For bulk products the (tanker, tanker truck or dump truck) Unloading process cannot always be separated from the Put Away process (storage tanks).
In some retail use cases the receipt of merchandize is bypassing the stock room. From a process perspective this practice is a combination of Transfer (Transfer) and Receive & Store (Put Away), thus eliminating Put Away Sourcing Cycle Time Source-to-Pay Warehouse Distribution Center
