A joint government/business initiative to build cooperative relationships that strengthen overall supply chain and border security. The voluntary program is designed to share information that will protect against terrorists' compromising the supply chain.

Companies pursuing C-TPAT certification must have a documented process for determining and mitigating risk throughout their international supply chains. C-TPAT certified companies are classified as low risk, resulting in expedited processing of their cargo, including fewer Customs examinations.
