M4SC (Management for Supply Chain) was a business process framework describing the activities an organization can deploy to establish and/or improve its supply chains. The following processes comprise the framework:
- Align Strategy — Align and communicate supply chain performance goals in support of business goals and requirements. Strategy supply chain management processes include supply chain segmentation, scorecards and benchmarks, performance and gap analysis. Compare to Align Strategy
- Align Network — Align supply chain resources with process and network goals and requirements. Supply chain network management processes include network level process flow modeling, network analysis, roles and responsibilities assessment, network design and validation. Compare to Align Network
- Align Processes — Align supply chain processes and process performance to meet supply chain network goals and requirements. Supply chain process management processes include process data collection, process performance analysis, process design and validation. Compare to Align Processes
- Align Resources — Align supply chain resources with process and network goals and requirements. Supply chain resource management processes include skills and resource assessments and training, hiring and redeployment planning. Compare to Align Resources
M4SC was developed by Process Core Group, lp and licensed to Supply Chain Council, Inc. in 2014 and donated to OpenReference Initiative in 2016. OpenReference Initiative volunteers adopted and enhanced the content in 2017. See: Supply Chain Management framework in OpenReference.
