The scope of the Value Stream Maps at this point should capture the total supply chain, not just a single entity or node. Material flow maps connect nodes of a supply chain, Thread diagrams connects processes. Thread diagrams can help clarify where the process is changes from customer order driven to plan driven (see Customer Order Decoupling Point).
